The Norfolk Beacon has been selected for a break on Luxury Staycations predominantly as it’s a very different kind of property. This well preserved lighthouse was originally a lookout during World War II, and this really is a staycation with a difference. Downstairs there’s a wonderful log burner for colder nights and space for a picnic under the trees in the garden, whilst once inside each level of the lighthouse is dedicated to a space - the library (once the lighthouse keeper's equipment room), the bunk-bedroom, the living room with panoramic sea views and a loft bedroom, the thrill of moving through these spaces more than makes up for the steep climb. The property is based in Winterton-on-Sea (part of the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), which also has a great beach and a couple of options for fish and chips. With plenty of museums, parks, pubs and boat-trips to choose from, be sure to speak to the property’s host, who has a wealth of knowledge of the local area as you’d expect. The property is priced accordingly for being such a unique space, but sleeping up to 8 in 3 bedrooms, if you don’t mind squeezing, get a few friends along to share the cost of what will undoubtedly be an unforgettable staycation.
